Miami-based businessman and author John Katsoulis signed copies of a novel for our times at the West Kendall Barnes and Noble Booksellers store on Saturday, June 4. 

   When Feral Eye of the Blackbird: A Journey Reveals the Power of Reason begins, Robert Bonhomme and his boss, Logos, have been kidnapped from an airstrip in Pennsylvania and are on their way to a diamond mine in Africa. Because of Logos’ notorious mechanical skill, he and Robert, who is his apprentice, have been targeted by members of a mysterious consortium to complete a task no one else has succeeded at. If they want to live, they will need to repair “the temple”—a rig poised above the mine. Once they do, their captors will gain access to the billions of dollars’ worth of diamonds geologists say are buried below.
   Katsoulis says the story originated as a screenplay he wrote while seeking work as an actor a decade ago. “We have to make rational decisions which aren’t always the emotional decisions,” explains Katsoulis, “The characters learn to fight fear and use reason to plan their escape.”
