Every year around this time, people who struggle with their weight face an enormous challenge: How to avoid the Christmas cookies and other treats that are plentiful.
Michelle Goldberger, Program Director at COR Retreat, a food addiction recovery program in Wayzata, Minn., shares her story in hopes of helping her fellow food addicts avoid the temptations that are plentiful this time of year.

A story about the connection the new book, "Great Houses of Summit Avenue and the Hill District," has to the City of Duluth, Minn., ran in the Duluth Budgeteer over the weekend of Dec. 14 & 15. Duluth, home to the Glensheen Mansion, was the perfect place to promote this book. The home at 807 Summit Avenue, profiled on pages 150 - 161, was designed by the same architect, Clarence Johnston, and there are some striking similarities.
On Dec. 15th, Karen Melvin, the book's publisher and photographer, signed books at:
Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Miller Hill Mall, Duluth, Sun., Dec. 15th from 1pm - 2pm
The Fitgers Bookstore, Duluth, Sun., Dec. 15th from 3pm - 4pm.
On Dec. 13, The St. Paul Pioneer Press mentioned the book again in the article, Gift-worthy picture books and fiction with a Minnesota state of mind.
A story about Patrick Ledray, author, "The Dragon in the Christmas Tree," appears in this month's issue of the Highline Community College Alumni Magazine.
In 2000 he was named the Honorary Consul of Romania for Minnesota. His travels and ties to Romania served as the inspiration for his children’s book.
Ed and Sue Claessen, authors of Making Tracks: C.L. Best and the Caterpillar Tractor Co. signed books at the Barnes & Noble Booksellers store in Apple Valley, Minn., on Sat., Dec. 7th. Their book tells the story of how the Caterpillar Tractor Company came to be, and its founder, C.L. Best.
This book makes an excellent holiday gift for everyine with an interest in agriculture, construction, and the history of how the U.S. infrastructure was built.
